This 12-week semester will be broken down into four sections, each 3-week section focusing on studies of composing, rendering, and fInishing techniques for each of the 4 subject matters: portraits, figure drawing, landscapes, and still lifes. We will start with basic proportional observations of each, use block-ins to establish scale, and finally bring drawings up to full finishes. We will be using Smooth Newsprint and Conte 1710B Charcoal pencils. Use and manipulation of edges will be demonstrated to further develop more advanced skill sets.
