classroom climate

VAI focuses on cultivating a creative and stimulating classroom environment that essential for the artistic learning process. Doing so also enables students to expand creative thinking and technical skill.

Although we encourage fun and imagination, certain procedures are expected from our participants.

  • Punctuality: showing up late can disrupt the class.

  • Respect: showing respect to other classmates & instructor, taking care of materials and classroom  space. This includes using appropriate volume and language.

  • Listening: Listening during instruction and demonstration.

  • Participation: participating in activities and projects. Class is not intended for playtime or social hour.

Parents are asked not to linger during class time as it can be distracting to other students. However, escorting their child to class is encouraged, as well as notifying the instructor when the child is leaving VAI.

missed class

Missed classes are not made up or reimbursed.
During Spring and Summer we understand that vacations may interfere with normal class scheduling. Parents are asked to notify the office prior to or on the first day of class so tuition can be adjusted accordingly.

cancelled class

Visual Art Institute reserves the right to cancel a class at any time. If possible, prior notice will be given. If a class is cancelled, students may enroll in another class of the same value, or a refund may be given.

Tuition is due on the first day of class and is preferably done online.

A 20% discount is offered on the second class for any enrolled student or for the second/third sibling - applied to the current term only.

Tuition may also be payed at the VAI office by cash, check, or credit card.

Families that require a tuition payment plan should contact the VAI office. If approved, tuition is due on the first of each month, and the monthly payment will be 1/3 of the total tuition.

VAI strives to offer everyone a chance at artistic education, regardless of socioeconomic status. In order to achieve this, VAI offers a limited number of tuition waivers.

Please inquire about tuition waivers by emailing info@visualartinstitute.org, or by calling 801-474-3796.

Students can withdraw from the class up to a week before the course starts with a full refund, minus the $5.00 transaction fee. During that week, VAI would refund 20% of the registration cost. No refund would be given after the course begins.

refunds

Many students donate works to VAI for its permanent collection or for fundraising purposes. These pieces are designated as such; otherwise all artwork belongs to the individual student that produces it. Students wishing to display their artwork at a community venue or in VAI's promotional materials must have a Media Release Form that is signed by the parent or guardian, and is on file in the office. Media Release Forms are also available in the office.
