Printmaking is a fun medium that pushes artists to draw using layers and negative space. In this class, young artists will create individual, creative surfaces that will be inked and then transferred to paper to become a small edition of printed images. This process of creating art sparks imagination and creativity, and creates a great sense of discovery, suspense, and excitement as the final image isn’t revealed until the paper is literally peeled away from the original surface that the artists have created. Every hand-pulled print is a unique, original work of art. Printmaking develops patience, sequential problem solving, dexterity, and fine motor skills. Students will walk away with a deeper understanding of composition and space, and a collection of finished prints!
