What IS Printmaking?
Printmaking is often thought to just be copying or stamping a premade design onto paper. In reality though? It’s so much more than that!
In printmaking, anyone can make their own designs, ranging from a simple pattern to a detailed scene. You can layer these designs in creative ways, either changing the placement of prints on the page to create an overlay effect, or stacking different colors for a variety of color combinations. Anything is possible.
Furthermore, you can print onto a plethora of different materials, not just paper. From sticker sheets to shirts to tote bags, anything can become your canvas! Even printing on regular paper, there are many types to choose from, ranging from different textures, thicknesses, and colors. You can get really creative with what you can display your designs on.
Printmaking is taught by our wonderful Carlissa Shaw. If you think you’d like to try it out, we’d love to have you for our Fall semester!
