Ethan B.

Ethan attended VAI’s Garfield School. He was a student from Highland High School who loved design and went on to study Architecture at the University of Utah. After graduation, he went to graduate school and earned a Master of Architecture from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. When asked about his time as a student at VAI, Ethan said:

“There is obviously a lot of overlap between art and architecture. In architecture we do a lot of building, and that’s something we did a lot of at Visual Art Institute. I think it gave me a real leg up. I love books and I think a large part of that was having access to the art library at [VAI]. The critiques were also really helpful. I use things I learned at VAI all the time.”

After graduation, Ethan moved back to Salt Lake where he worked as an architecutural designer for boutique architect firms Diamond Phillips and WOW Atelier. He was an intern architect at Cox Graae + Spack Architects in the Washington DC metro area from 2017-2018.

He has been an architect at Di’velept Design in Salt Lake City since 2017. Ethan is currently working with the Visual Art Institute to design plans for a new VAI campus in the Salt Lake Area. You can see Ethan’s work at ethanbarley.com.
