VAI works with local schools throughout the Wasatch Front to support teachers and schools. Our goal is to assist in providing the best art experiences possible for our community's youth. If you have any questions, or would like us to come to your school to do any of the following, contact us.

Workshops at Schools

VAI works with local schools to bring workshops to children in the community. Workshops are 4 weeks long, 1 to 2 sessions per week, each lasting between 1 and 2 hours. The cost is $30 per hour for the instructor; supplies are extra and generally range between $25-$75. Subjects could include drawing, painting, mobiles, mosaics, sculpture, collage, etc. Workshops can be in-class learning experiences or after-school programs.

Reflections Contest Judging

As a free service to the community, we judge PTA Reflections Contests for Elementary, Junior High, and High Schools in the Jordan, Murray, Granite, Davis, and Salt Lake School Districts for the categories of Visual Art, Photography, Three-dimensional, and Video. We judge between 20 and 50 school's reflections contests each year. If you or someone you know are interested in having us judge your school's reflections contest, contact us for more information.

Special Projects

VAI actively participates in various collaboration projects throughout the community. Those projects might include public art projects, theater production sets or murals, like the one pictured below.

If you would like to learn more about how VAI can help you with your project ideas, please contact us. Please keep in mind that the time and cost involved depends on the size and scope of a project. To see more examples of projects, visit past projects.

Classroom Presentations

VAI Faculty members also give free classroom presentations relating to any of the following topics and much more:

  • Defining what it means to be an artist
  • Investigating career possibilities in the visual arts
  • Discovering how art and creativity can be applied in all subjects
  • Exploring contemporary art concepts
  • Answering student questions about art in general

Any presentation can be tailored to fit the needs of any given set of students. Topics other than the ones listed above can also be presented. Presentations typically last 45 minutes to 1 hour.
