OH SO MATERIAL

November 6th - January 15th, 2009

Join us for OH SO MATERIAL-- an exhibition of five artists working across a variety of media-- installation, sculpture, found object, textile, and painting that explore material and its role in the finished work.  Artists respond to the space itself via installation and material choices, and viewers can explore how these choices connect their separate aesthetics.  The artists-- Shawn Porter, Jared Lindsay Clark, Stephanie Leitch, John Andrews, and Brenda Wattleworth-- have some similar visual sensibilities despite their different media choices, and are connected by the way their work compliments each other in a grouping.  The exhibition will explore material and its relationship to concept, aesthetic, and the surrounding architectural space.

Plus, be sure not to miss the courtyard installation by VAI students, Chloe Hunt and George Mentchoukov.
